The SMT
is a development, evaluation and decision-support tool that is part of
an overall awareness process. The SMT employs shape analysis and pattern recognition to depict the current and changing condition of dynamic systems. Its purpose is to broaden perspective and deepen awareness by making visible the underlying unity in systems. By visualizing dynamic, interconnected and interdependent patterns, users of the SMT improve their ability to respond appropriately and effectively to events and circumstances. The SMT depicts spherical integrity as shape. The defining characteristic of the SMT is its use of shape and pattern as a means for analysis, evaluation and understanding. The SMT depicts the condition (shape) of a system (sphere) by visualizing the interrelationships (patterns) between data points (nodes).
